About Us

Joel Gonzales has been a team member at McKenna Children’s Museum since the opening at our current location. During that time he has been responsible for everything from changing light bulbs to planning our summer day camp. His current role is Education Program Coordinator, so you might find him whipping up a tasty treat with kids in the kitchen, tending to the garden, or facilitating an arts and craft activity. His favorite activity, however, is blowing things up in the science lab! He might even blow a bubble big enough to fit your kid inside. Joel is responsible for planning all weekday program activities so if you have a special request please let him know. He will also book your school field trip and arrange for an area to each lunch on-site if you prefer. If you have ever had a great experience at McKenna Children’s Museum you have Sofia Martinez to thank. Sofia has been a team member at the Museum for almost five years, and over that time her responsibilities have grown. Her current role is Operations Coordinator, which means she makes sure everything is running smoothly from check-in at the front desk to departure. Every day at the Museum is a new adventure – we never know what situation will pop up! Sofia puts out fires on a regular basis, facilitates the maintenance and cleanliness of all areas of the Museum, helps plan and execute special events and programming, and ensures an overall fabulous experience for all members and guests.
